I've been vegan for 2 years - it's been wonderful!

I don't have any real problem with Reggie's mindset of "vegan unless (some infrequent exception case)", especially for someone just starting out. Unfortunately, people soon realize that it's more trouble than it's worth because just like in this clip everyone thinks that one non-vegan meal negates everything else and that they're the same as you while they eat meat, dairy and eggs at every meal. At least the person is doing something (a lot, actually)! Some people use the word "flexitarian" to describe someone who is basically vegan but doesn't want to deal with being called a hypocrite as they navigate a world with not enough vegan options (yet). I hate the label and am fine with people calling themselves vegan if they are trying to be vegan.

I hated this. He’s (keyword here) trying to go vegan. And instantly that gets discredited because he’s making some exceptions (restaurants) for starters. Why are vegans always held to such a high standard? “You gotta be 100% vegan or else you’re a faker and should just quit overall”.

Going on a plant based diet is easy when you do your research 🌱

That should've been the bet between James and the keyboards guy.
He won't shave for a year and James won't eat meat.

100 imperfect vegans are better than 1 perfect vegan!! try reduce your meat, fish, dairy (...) consumption ! that will make a difference. but i hate how they make fun of being vegan and just laugh at it, that’s certainly part of why people think being vegan is “weird” or whatever. i’m vegan and going vegan was the best decision i’ve ever made in my life !!

There are a lot of folks who are adopting temporary vegan/vegetarian diets. It's a good start if you're unsure how to make it work. Some folks I've heard do a vegetarian/vegan work week and then have their meat on sat or sun. If you don't want to fully commit to the change right off that bat, it's a good way to ease yourself into it. I do recommend doing some research and meal planning in advance before you start so you are prepared and not standing in front of the grocery store thinking wtf did I get into? Best of luck to you all.

I was vegan in the 90s, before it was cool. But also, they talk about veganism as if it is solely about food choices, but it includes the use of animal products in other ways as well, like no leather, wool, honey, palm oil etc. The alternative term is plant-based diet.

I’m vegan and I hope those of you who are not will consider a significant reduction in animal meat and dairy consumption. You don’t have to be 100% vegan if you find it too difficult to transition, but give it a try...at the end of the day, any significant reduction in dairy and meat will have a very positive effect on your health, contribute to slowing down our climate crisis and will contribute to a reduction in animal cruelty. Not to mention, reduce all of the horrible antibiotics and bacteria animal meat carries. Did you know 80% of antibiotics sold in the US are sold to industrial food processing plants? (Chickens, beef and pigs). Industrial farms in the US are horribly toxic.

I'm vegan and fully support people who eat vegan food except in the cases of x, y, and/or z. I set up a "vegan except for..." when I went vegan and very quickly found that the "except for..." didn't work for me after a week or so and have lived fully vegan since. But I get that others may need or feel fine with their exceptions. Sometimes is better than never, and if someone feels amazingly better without the meat or dairy they may also decide to cut it out completely. Go as vegan as possible for the planet, for the animals, for yourself, and for your health!!! 🌎🐷🐔🦐❤

As someone who were raised by vegetarians and a life long vegetarian, I relate to this so much. It is much easier to be vegetarian now, and even vegan. However I developed a sensitivity to gluten so I have to be careful of my gluten intake. It is insanely difficult to eliminate completely gluten. It is very inconvenient. Add to that I am allergic to nuts (except almonds), so a lot of the cool vegan options are out for me, like vegan cheeses etc. So combine the two, and well I am trying my best.

I do think it is important for people to cut their meat intake anyways. I have eaten meat on only 10 occasions in my life, some of them on purpose and some of them by accident. I don't think most people can say that.

Vegetarians do still exist, we just don't talk about it all the time. I've beeen a vegetarian for almost 20 years and went from years of being told I'm a pussy for not eating meat to being told I'm evil for eating cheese. So I rarely even say it unless it comes up.
