How much does it cost to convert a van???

So, I finally got to adding up all the receipts! Although it did cost a lot more than I thought, it still isn't terrible. I know this could have been done for much cheaper! Anyway, hopefully this helps any of you considering doing a van conversion!

Your van is so beautiful. I think you did very well coming in under $1500. My Transit Connect which is very similar to yours cost about $2500 in labor to build bed & cabinetry, plus $3000 in materials including solar panels. My builder friend spent many hours just trying to figure out how to make all the pieces fit! Now I am going to have him build me a cupboard like yours over the cab!

That is actually very good since you really made it nice, a lot of conversion, people just used what they picked up or found second hand.

That actually sounds pretty cheap. According to the spreadsheet I kept I'm running nearly £3, 000 for my conversion though that includes the cost of buying tools I didn't have and there's a few things I bought that I later changed my mind on.

I'm curious, when people gut the van...why do they take down the metal ceiling? I am at that point on my shuttle bus and wonder what is under the wood clad ceiling. Why did you redo your ceiling? I'd appreciate your input as I am a Granny trying to do this bus conversion myself as much as possible.
