The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has warned against deliberate attacks on peacekeepers after Israeli troops breached one of their positions.

It said peacekeepers in Ramyah, southern Lebanon, were in shelters when two Israeli tanks "forcibly entered" their position, requesting that the base "turn out its lights".

If Russia did this exact thing, the UN would have a completely different energy. Divided Nations.

The UN is refusing to leave. As someone who did 6 peace keeping tours in this region, I can only offer this. If peacekeepers are injured or killed it is entirely the UN’s fault. The UN's conduct in Lebanon is, to say the least, odd and counter to what they have done and are doing in regards to other peacekeeping missions. A peacekeeping mission is defined by the UN as when two or more sides of a conflict come to a formal agreement to end hostilities. The UN then monitors compliance of the terms of the agreement by all parties.

So when the agreement breaks down to the point that hostilities re-commence there is no longer an agreement to enforce so for their own safety they withdraw from the conflict area. In fact that is exactly what they are doing in Mali right now. Like Mali, the UNIFIL mission has been a complete failure because the UN refuses to enforce the terms of the agreement. For instance in Lebanon Hezbollah has ignored the no fire zones by moving weapons and fighters into them and fortifing the area. For years the UN, despite Israeli protests, has done nothing about it. The only logical reason for the UN refusal to leave is in order to help Iran & Hezbollah. There can be no other reason, proving once again that this organization has lost its way and is no longer credible.

Why the hell doesn't the UN just protect its troops with tanks and fighter jets? After all, they have a right to defend themselves.

It shows just how powerless the UN is, and maybe always was. If Israel can do this, what stops any other country doing the same thing?

Israel should be demanding an explanation as to why the UN peacekeepers sat and watched Hezbolla set up a military installation around and under the UN Base.

The UN was to keep Hezbollah out of the south. The UN is complicit with Hezbollah since they didn't do what was agreed.

I see the bots are out in force 😅 - attacking UN peacekeepers and justifying it is a new low in world order.

Maybe the UN shouldn’t have let them build tunnels 100 meters away from their base.

Anyone still wholeheartedly supporting Israel really.needs to take a look at what they are doing.
