With the tie, he just looks like a tired dad who works too many hours at the office 😄

Also grew up with an Akita - there was one time I got out of the house as a very young child, she crashed through the screen door and corralled me back toward the house before I could get too close to the street!

I appreciate how you emphasize the seriousness and responsibility that comes with owning certain powerful breeds, and the fact that they're not necessarily the right dog for everyone, without villainizing the dogs.

Kuma has resting bite face.

I love how Akita’s choose people, not the other way around.

Kuma looks like he'll never be amused by anything, that he already knows what you're thinking and that he expects you to bow down to him in respect, his expression makes him look like a wise gentleman 😄

He is super stunning and in control of himself. His owners must be so proud of Kuma, it shows when owners love and respect their pets. Just gorgeous 😍

My Akita is totally different, she loves to play and is never serious at all, even when other dogs have tried to snip at her she just backs away, haha. Kuma is such a pretty boy!

We acquired two dogs while living in Japan, both were Akita mixes. The male was more mild tempered with other people, the female would not tolerate any other people to approach or touch her. They both were super protective and loving of members of the family. We brought them back to the US with us and they lived to 13 and 14 years. The male was particularly attached to my Dad and after my Dad died he would become excited anytime my mother pulled out items that had belonged to him.(leather wallet, watch, etc).

Many years ago, I volunteered with a woman who took in American Akitas that had been rescued from puppy mills, and rehabbed them. I remember the physical and shut-down emotional state they were in at intake, and how long it took to overcome those trust issues. Coming from that background, to seeing this gorgeous, healthy, well-adjusted boy having a wonderful spa day is kind of a healing experience for me. I would love to see Mrs. Kuma have her day, too. Thank you for sharing these.

This dog just oozes so much grace and he really enjoyed the grooming you could see it in his face.

He definitely had the face that gruffly goes “mmmmhmm”

Slight correction, Akitas weren't bred for protection but hunting. They were even used for hunting bears. Their job was to taunt the bear until the hunter had a good aim at the bear. A pretty fearless breed to go head to head with a bear, so a healthy dose of caution is definitely a smart way to go with grooming them. Kuma's owner probably knows all this, seeing as they chose to name him "Bear" in Japanese.

I love how many times you’ve made videos with Kuma! He is absolutely stunning and it’s amazing to listen to all the information about his breed! He is a king! Also, loved the slowmo of you shaving out his paw pads! 👏

Would love to see a video of his wifey!! 🤗

Love watching him. He's a rare combination of handsome, fearsome, super worried, scratch enjoying blob of muscle. I really wish to see his kids again!

I had an Akita/Chow mix growing up and I remember the teacher at our dog training class was like "😬 he's gonna be a lot to handle." His name was Dozer (short for Bulldozer 😅) and he was honestly the sweetest, most gentle fluffball of a baby. Unless you tried to mess with his family. He passed when I was 18, and 12 years later I still miss him.
