Its called adding ballast so the ship sits deeper in the water and more stable on the bottom

I worked on the Rebecca Ohma from 1985 to 1988. I really enjoyed it. The Pacific waters were always rough, so we flooded the bilge to help smooth out the ride. Sometimes, we would flood one or two of the holds too. It actually works very well.

I'm lonnnng retired...but I had a friend who was washed overboard three times while tuna fishing twice and Crabbing, once..
and yet miraculously saved .
He quit to live on the streets of L. A.
Probably just as dangerous...but way less water!..

So he didn't expect it, but he did it intentionally? Oh, okay.

Ive worked on deep sea whitefish boats, this deck is free draining, it looks like a long-line fishing boat and that door is where they pick up the end of the line and then the line gets put in that winch to pull all the hooks in, this deck is where they remove fish.
Because that deck is completely closed off from the rest of the boat and has a grate in it 😮 any water that comes in will just drain out of the gunnels around the edge... Anyone saying its to let in ballast water is wrong, you would never do it like this because you have no real control of the amount, ballast water is always pumped in so you have control.

I have worked on a ship in the US Navy.
Once in a storm in the Atlantic that cracked our hull open in three places, and broke off parts of our super structure. We did what we were trained to do. Everyrhing turned out fine.

Solution is to make sure the weight is heavier bottom n the ship will be will have a much deeper depth water surface surface to ensure it will not flip 🤗🤗🤗i know this cos I've been in one before with my uncle back when i was very young several years back
