This example uses the Mean Value Theorem (MVT) in an application. If f(1)=10 and f'(x) is greater than or equal to 2 for all x between 1 and 4, how small can f(4) possibly be? We use the MVT and the fact that the derivative is always greater than or equal to 2 to find a minimum value for f(4).
