Track 57/60 in Chrono Trigger the Musical

The outer shell of Lavos crumbles under the crash of the Epoch. Our heroes take what pieces they can, hoping to repair Belthasar's last and greatest work later, but the later will only come once they destroy what they believe to be the true form of Lavos. The world depends on their success...

Music by Yasunori Mitsuda and Nobuo Uematsu

I particularly like how as we go through each of Lavos' three songs it seems as if each one of it's three layered voices is faced down and killed off.

At Lavos beckons Lavos' rough monstrous outer layer takes main place and it mainly sings using this gravely low voice but has two other voices layered on top of it. It's ominous and indifferent to the group as is befitting for an inevitable apocalyptic monstrosity. Here in 'world revolution' we mainly hear the second comparatively higher pitched voice with hints of the third peeking through and even taking over at times, take for example the sentence 'this planet has always been mine!' which starts out with the second voice only to break down near the end into the third.

Finally in 'last battle' Lavos is down to just using a one-layered voice which is neither as apocalyptic and intimidating as the first or confident and refined as the second sounding almost frantic as the deranged alien monster realizes what is happening. Almost as if to show us that stripped of these two layers of indifference and grandeur lay something vile, foreign and surprisingly mundane.

Credit to Suraht, who had to go back and fight Lavos several times to get all the party members in the footage.

I love that Robo got back up when Lavos said "This planet has always been mine." It was the party being defiant against that line.

I never understood the whole "it harvested the dna of every being that ever walked the earth" and why this form has those pipes and that face that resemble almost a breathing machine. And no legs.

While watching this my mind hit me with a metaphorical truck.

It was building itself a body

Revolution can mean either constant rotation around something or radical change. Under this light, we can see two sides in this song. Lavos, whose very presence in this world forces it to play around it, becoming the center of the world, so to speak, and our heroes, who wish to incite radical change in this cruel, seemingly doomed world. The song starts with our heroes letting out their battle cries against Lavos, the biggest foe yet, the source of all destruction, and the journey's end. Contrary to the game, everyone's here, so we get to hear every single cry of bravery uttered by the hopes of mankind. Lavos is finally forced to acknowledge them, although less as individuals and moreso as some physical embodiment of those darned humans who won't let themselves die and keep fighting these worthless battles. Their entire world revolves around Lavos at this point, so Lavos should be the final arbiter of their fates. Lavos is also forced to sing at a fast pace, making what once was an inevitable force of doom now a tangible, fightable force of doom. Crono's buddies, meanwhile, are playing into Lavos' perception of them somewhat; Lavos sees them as humanity's death throes, but mankind has shown to live through their own supposed death throes before, and so will our heroes. They also proclaim to keep on fighting so long as the world keeps spinning; Lavos is the "center of the world" at this moment, so it can be inferred that they'll keep on fighting until Lavos dies. This all comes together in the last sentence "Sing out we're still alive", forcing Lavos to either acknowledge defeat or that humans are a threat.
I have been waiting for this moment for a very, VERY long time. Some people around me compared me to some sort of weird preacher, given how much I talked about this one song coming out and how amazing and great and awesome and perfect it would be. When I saw CT:TM was on hiatus, I thought of making my own version of the song, just for closure, but, as soon as that one announcement in february/march hit, I had some glimmer of hope, something to carry me through these tough times. I'm not afraid to say, I woke up many times just because I knew this song would come out someday. And now it's here. And it delivered. Thank you MOTI crew. Thank you so, so much.

I know it's typical jrpg stuff, but it feels a bit weird that Lavos is not _actually_ a giant tick monster and that was just a shell. That said, can definitely see the Toriyama in this form's design. Feels very Cell

I love how it sounds like Lavos is just done with them and basically says "I'm done playing around" meanwhile crono and the gang are not holding back and are going to end lavos

And one more thing to keep to the theme of all of time rebelling against Lavos...

The gameplay showcase of so many Triple Techs, even the ones that don't use Crono.

Freaking awesome job, here.

I was always wondering why Uprising, Cyber, and Alex were all listed as the voice of Lavos. I kept thinking they each voiced in different songs, but now I realized that all three are stacked on top of each other giving Lavos that more distorted demonic feeling. I fully salute you Alex and everyone on the Man on the Internet team, I salute you.

Oh this would have been absolutely amazing and epic if this could have been done in the game. A pity that technological limitations prevented it. I am now hungry for a remaster of Chrono trigger for the modern day.

As always thank you very much and keep up the incredible work everyone!

Oh Akira Toriyama and your repeating concepts/designs. I too enjoy the time-travel monster that incorporates other creatures genomes with roughly that design.

"Sing out that we are still alive!"

Shouted at the end of the fight, where Chrono, the one who fought, died, and returned to life all in the same breath, in an attempt to save his friends FROM Lavos... levitates into the air, casting his most powerful, overwhelming spell against the parasite's core.

A remarkably breathtaking decision.

I think this might be one of my favorite songs from this musical! Lavos's vocals are absolutely demonic here.

World Revolution is just one of the greatest OST i have ever heard, as a child i would always stop the game just to listen to it while i did my homework.

Lavos: I should be fine. Just as long as they only come in a party of 3-
Everyone: Hi

I love the detail of Lavos being the one attacking during his lines, meanwhile as the heroes sing theyre the ones attacking. Such a tiny thing but it adds so much power to the song.

"We will fight as long as our world keeps on turning!" Amazing line.

This was AMAZING!! Loved how you incorporated not only every character, but the name of the song perfectly in the chorus (which was totally in theme with Chrono Trigger). Total worth the wait. Can’t wait for next week! Totally adding this to my playlist of favorite songs to listen to on loop for hours. Brings the total up to 5!

Okay, just asking, I can't be the only one who wants a 1 hour version of this, right?
