2025 Nissan Altima Sedan Stays Affordable, Loses Unusual Engine Upgrade

Nissan has taken to touting its lineup's affordability of late, advertising the number of vehicles it offers with starting prices under $30,000. Considering how expensive new cars have gotten—and how several carmakers continue to skew their lineups toward larger, pricier SUVs and trucks—you can see where Nissan's eyeing opportunity with its relatively car- and small-SUV-heavy lineup. One such affordable car? The Nissan Altima midsize sedan, which enters 2025 pretty much unchanged, but with a new value-boosting option package for the popular Altima SV trim level and one big omission: Last year's range-topping Altima SR VC-Turbo model is gone, its 248-hp variable-compression turbo engine with it.
