Using a mix of acids several chemicals can be nitrated making them highly energetic, and even explosive. Glycerin is one of those that most everyone knows about, and has been produced in the thousands of tons range over its discovery. This video is for demonstration purposes only.

I got a quick question, I saw in another video the guy used a 1:1 ratio of the two acids (like you did) but he had 90% concentration of nitric while you only had 68%. Should I up the amount of nitric acid to compensate for the lower concentration? Thanks

So it's really dangerous to make nitroglycerin in large quantities but some double base propellant use an insane ammount of NG.how do the people that made double base propellant made them safely

You should use a glass thermometer as nitric acid reacts with steel.

How much glycerine can we put to the nitration bath? Is a 1/3 or 1/5 ratio okay or is it dangerous?

When I was in High School we attempted making NG once. It did not work and now I know why: because we violated temperature restrictions.

I personally prefer using nitrate salts as the source of nitronium ion, though it might be hard to stir near the end of the addition of glycerin.

what if i were to make more than just a few drops? A dropper would take hours if there was a larger quantities. I saw in the movie fight club they used bath tubs to make it, but how would they remove the nitroglycerin since they were using much more than drop?
