Regardless of what we name our kids today I find them as a prophecy of what God will do in their lives as well as things that can happen in our lives as their parents. Most of the time, unbenounces to us as the parents, we give our children a name to which define ls their character and struggle in life as it is a characteristic or mantel of God which is hard to live out without God living in us.

My name means “The man who clears the way for Christ followers.” That is a tough this to live out on your own and requires a close relationship with God. My initials mean “faithful to God.” Any way you cut it, that is powerful.

But here is something even more powerful. I went through an ugly divorce being separated from my children. I struggled for over a decade why I would be given four amazing children only to be cut out of their lives as their father. One day, God took me back to the meanings of their names in birth order and it reads “By God’s love and grace with godly devotion and peace, He heard my prayers and saved me from my affliction.”

We may not understand certain situations, but God gives us a word by decisions we make and reveals them at the most necessary time.
