Don’t Make These 3 Common Revision Mistakes: Best GRE Preparation

Показать описание
Avoid these three super-common mistakes to achieve the Best GRE preparation and revision.

Mistake 1: Rereading rather than random recalling.
Random recall occurs when you practice a subject without knowing what the next question will ask – usually through a randomised quiz or a practice test.

Mistake 2: Highlighting and underlining. It’s every student’s favourite activity – highlight every line of the textbook!

You are far better off spending your time testing yourself with the randomised quizzes you often see at the end of chapters, or even better, the full practice tests you can get online.

You can do at least 12 full GRE practice tests from providers such as PowerPrep, Manhattan and Kaplan without signing up to the full expensive courses.

Mistake 3: Not spacing out your testing. You need to test yourself at regular intervals, to continually remind your brain that the percentage skills, critical reasoning strategies and advanced vocab that you have stored is actually useful and shouldn’t be deleted.

Between the intervals, of course, you can be relentlessly adding to your knowledge by completing the exercises in the Official Guides and Manhattan 5lb book, and by watching relevant video content and doing randomised quizzes wherever you find them.

Super helpful video.
At the start, I was just doing the 5lb book and when I completed it and started taking some practice questions I got a few of the (easy) questions wrong and forgot the "efficient way" to solve.
This was truly a mind opener!
Thank you so much Sir!

It depends, , a good foundation should be established first. If not, people will always get confused.

This is by far the most valuable content I came across. nobody tells us how to retrieve the information. school, colleges nobody gave us this valuable information. I just completed manhattan 5lb and I had a hard time doing and recalling what I did in the first chapter. now I understand how important it is to take a discrete test in between to retain the information. otherwise, all your efforts are wasted. Thank you for sharing this vital and most important revision trick. this video is Gold!!

Though I am not writing GRE, but I think your advice of ;randomised recalling', which I think I can apply to my overall learning as well.
So, thanks for that part. :)
Plus, if you could share how do you speak so calmly and don't grope around words like they are naturally coming to you? I would love to learn that from you.

J’adore ta t shirt!!! c’est magnifique ! Et toi aussi 💕 this advice is gold! Also to add when you do the practice tests, it’s useless if one does not review the mistakes from tests . Thank you ! 11 more weeks until d - day for me !

What if your test is this week and you've only been spacing out your tests in intervals of 8? Would it be okay to cram in a couple more tests on the last week? Cheers!

Also I have noticed you haven't uploaded any new videos.
It's a good thing to take a break from the tedious task of making videos.

I hope you are doing okay and my best wishes to you and your family! :)

I thought I was doing well with my prep but took a practice test today and got a 147 😞I was getting a predicted range of 155-160 on magoosh so I thought I was ok. Any tips on how to get past discouragement. I have 2 months left

Incredibly true. I feel like I've mastered a topic and then a week later I can't remember anything and even when I do, I'm much slower.

Is it a problem to purchase a used GRE book? My concern is the being able to access the free material that comes with it when purchased brand new.
