Evangelical leader explains how we can depolarize faith in American politics

National Association of Evangelicals president Walter Kim tells CNN’s John Avlon on the latest Reality Check that evangelicalism is at a 100 year “inflection point." Expressing hope that we can depolarize the role of faith in American politics, he says he has “seen evidence” that “President Biden is a man of deep religious faith” - and recalls how in the past evangelicals were at the forefront of the fight for racial justice.

Something was written about "Church and State". Once money became a force in our politics, that went out the window. Money rules both church and state.

It has made me truly sick to see what has become of my religion in the political and social discourse of America today! We finally had to leave my church round 2003 because of how toxic it had become. It just became too much when there was no longer any room for being a Democrat in our congregation! You cannot put into words how infuriating it is to have your faith questioned because of who you vote for and what you believe, according to YOUR FAITH, your government should do AND NOT DO!! How about we get Faith out of American politics? Seeing as the founding fathers didn't think there was a place in government for religion, I think we need to continue that view and get religion out of politics. Religion should not govern how we govern.

As an Australian evangelical Christian, these divides seem to be a staunchly American issue. It’s a shame that America seems unable to help itself in politicising everything.
