Dogs are a man’s best friend, so they deserve to travel in safety and comfort. And that got us thinking… what makes a new vehicle truly “dog friendly.” Well, our Stephanie Hart rides along with dog owners and their pals to find out.

Make the hatch area more boxy instead of raking the rear hatch so aggressively, make the seats fold totally flat and make sure there are vents to make sure cold air gets to the back, keep ride height low. For those reasons, we will probably get a Regal TourX for our next car. If only it could tow 3500 pounds it would be perfect.

Ugh, none of these work if you want to do the responsible thing and CRATE YOUR DOGS in the car where they are safest. It's nearly impossible to find a vehicle that I can use a crate or two with that isn't a mini van. :(

Would like to see more specifics about the dog friendly individual vehicles. Load a couple of big dogs up and take the vehicles for a real word test drive.

Subaru doesn't actually do anything for the benefit of dog owners.. they just exploit them in advertising.. like this video.
