Just buy them a Volvo. Any modern Volvo, and you get the safest car around in it's class.

Parents shouldn't buy their kids a vehicle. I'm 18 and my first car was a 1990 Mazda b2200 and it was a piece of crap that I paid $600 for and a few months back I bought my 1998 mustang gt (5 speed) and I can really appreciate it as I worked for it and didn't have it handed to me

This is totally out of touch and doesnt represent the majority of teenagers. for starters, most teenagers have a budget of about $1-2k. The car they buy needs to be cheap to run/ensure, easy to fix and safe. Some realistic options are a volvo 740, ford crown vic, or a chevy caprice

btw, a sports car has better handling so it can avoid accidents

 Get a $100 dash cam with GPS and speed feature. Once a week look at data. Teen speeds car gets impounded. Eventually remove cam and like Pavlov's dog experiment teen will learn. Sure trust is involved and when they are older they are on their own but at this age they have to have some supervision and a dash cam is a great way to help them in the long run. And if someone else is at fault you'll have the evidence too. All this talk of $10k etc is crazy .... how about 2k .... hell when most of use grew up we had no ABS or Airbags and we're still alive. Just DON'T get a massive SUV without stability control, look at the data, you probably have a 10x  100x more chance of dying in a roll over accident and what is the first thing the teen will do when a cute puppy or deer jumps in front of them on the highway doing 55 - swerve violently game over

Unless your parents know about cars you probably don’t want them to be choosing your car😂

quietguy1948 is right. I just got my first car and I have worked 4 years too buy it. If a kid works to buy his first car he will not crash it because it's his money down the drain.
