I just finished my third "rewatch" of TMA, and one thing that stood out to me was Annabelle's observations about Martin directly resulting in her plan succeeding:

While she and Martin are travelling together, she points out he would've made a great addition to the Web: "Because you always managed to get what you wanted through smiles and shrugs and stammerings that weren’t nearly as awkward as they seemed" (episode 196.) In the end, even though John has effectively won, he still ends up being convinced by Martin's pleading through some good ol' pure and awkward preaching

Elias' line about choice is one of my favourites in the whole series. It sums up the theme of choice in the series so well: we may not like some of the choices we make and we may not even realise we're making them, but we make them nonetheless. Jon chose the path of The Eye before he even joined the Institute, Georgie points out that he always pushed his luck too far, was always too curious for his own good, that's what The Eye's all about. The Web is such an interesting force in this story, one of my favourite moments in Anabelle's statement is when she poses the question of the true nature of The Web. Is it a cunning manipulator, puppeteering everything on her unseen strings or is she sowing seeds of paranoia, letting others think she's controlling them? It's my belief that the answer is both, as The Web is the fear in that uncertainty, the fear of not knowing whether you're choices are your own or someone else's.

when I heard about the plan of the web it blew my mind. it was really cleverly planned and how I saw it they were building up his fear to make the connection/mark stronger.

The way I see it is that the old Web plan was web Martin but when it noticed their interest in eachother it played into their romance trying to help their love so John would save the world to be with him a d maybe traumatised Georgie and Melanie so if they had the chance they would save the world. So I believe the Web didn't have complete control but tried to re-adjust after seeing JohnxMartin was a better plan

Just finished TMA for the first time. Great video, it always helps to watch things that so concisely explains and summarises media after finishing rhings!! Would love to see more in the future :)
