September 1989: MUSC Faces Hurricane Hugo

When Hurricane Hugo made landfall in Charleston around midnight Sept. 22, 1989, it was a Category 4 with 140 mph winds and a 12-foot storm surge. After Hugo passed, as was the case in many areas in South Carolina, MUSC teams were left facing repairs and recovery with stories to tell.
