Here in Holland everyone rides a bike for everything all day long. Keeps you in shape, it's cheap, it's practical, No parking issues ever. Really comes recommended

No. 3 is so important, judging/comparing yourselves and others can be so detrimental. There are people with mental illness/neurodivergence that have trouble with spending/saving that are judged so harshly because they struggle with saving/organising money. And the judgment even adds to their struggles. Nobody becomes a better human being because of frugality. It's a valuable skill-set but not a character trait.

Frugalista is a real word, Larry! What Is a Frugalista?

Frugalista is a neologism defined in 2008 by the Oxford New American Dictionary as "a person who lives a frugal lifestyle but stays fashionable and healthy by swapping clothes, buying secondhand, growing own produce, etc."

I have always worried that others would think I was crazy because I use my credit card for everything. I have a few reasons why. 1. It helps me track my spending. 2. It gives me reward points and cash back 3. It helps my credit score. 4. It helps getting my money refunded if I don't receive product. I don't pay any fees for the card nor do I EVER carry a balance. I never spend more money than what I can pay off immediately via online banking and is within my budget. It takes discipline and is not for some people. I carry only 50 cents and 2 grocery cart tokens in my wallet but that is another story. Great video, I hope you feel better soon.

I agree not everything that is given (advise) is right for every person. I choose to pay off debts, credit cards and large hospital bills. I'm now doing the envelope method for yearly needs. I watch frugal channels to get tips and motivation. I also learn from your tips and enjoy your channel. I feel on a frugal journey no one size fits all.

One thing that has worked for me, and I think frugal folk might benefit from, is simply to not go shopping so often. I don’t go out much, I’m a bit of a homebody at heart, but I’d tell myself it was fine to pop to the shops three times a week because it was my way of getting out of the house, and I was always careful with my spending…only, of course, I wasn’t. I might buy clothes in charity shops, and I might buy food in discount stores, but it was all still stuff I didn’t actually NEED - I was simply justifying my visit to the shops. Dropping that to shopping only when I actually need to, and having an actual list of things to buy, has already saved me a ton of money this year.

One of the best quotes from Dave Ramsey is "Don't take financial advice from broke people" I truly follow that to this day, probably 10 years later.

Frugal people should stop listening to the frugal Olympians and the frugal naysayers. When ever I share an aspect of my frugality, there will be the element of the auditorium saying I shouldn’t do that, or they wouldn’t do that, or I’m not doing it frugally enough, or my frugality isn’t right. I do always ways say each to their own. There’s also the naysayers, the you only live once, or the live your life hecklers. So, what ever you do in your frugal life, do it your own way. Hope and Larry, I love your videos and they are full of advice

I do own an e bike, a strömer and I love it! I hardly use my car anymore as it’s so easy to ride my bike. Even though I live quite rural, I do a big food shop once a month and then I cycle every week to the shops just to top up on veggies and fruit. Just make sure that you wear a helmet!

I got an e-bike for Christmas this year! I had found a super cheap cruiser on marketplace and was trying to bike to the corner store regularly for groceries, but going uphill with multiple bags was a huge struggle! Now that I have an e-bike I can get my weekly groceries without the car. It’s our goal to have at least 1 if not 2 car-free days per week.

Thank you for another great video. Another thing that can go into "comparing yourself to others" is being frugal with our TIME and our ENERGY, as you pointed out so well with your example of not adding things (baking, etc) to one's already overloaded plate. There are only so many hours in the day, and too many of us are running on empty when it comes to energy and sleep.

Before you go shopping, grab your list and your bags and tell yourself how long you are going to be in the store and about how much you plan to spend. Stick to it! Don't randomly drive all over town to different stores just to save a few cents on sale items. The gas, time and energy you waste will more than cancel out any savings.

I do NOT line dry clothes outdoors. I do use a clothes rack in my laundry area for delicate fabrics. But still use a dryer for a load or two of heavier items a week.

This is by far the BEST channel about frugality, prepping, etc.

Thank you for no judgment and some flexibility in living!

Don’t equate frugal to minimal! And don’t think of minimalism as having nothing!

I use my dryer all the time with no guilt. I’ve been married nearly 50 years and have not hung clothes on a line since I married! We don’t even have an outside clothes line. I do have a clothesline in our laundry room where I hang some delicate items to dry. That was my job as a kid growing up, and in Texas it is so hot in the summer that you can start taking them down as soon as the last item is hung! But in the winter, clothes would sometimes freeze on the line! Yes, Texas has cold weather, too!

Love y’all’s channel! Great advice!

I don't know if this is a good time for a "no buy" challenge - because you may need to get some things in stock in your home now, based on raising prices. Simple routines and systems work best for my brain for anything I do, budget, health, house cleaning, ... My budget got simplified when I learned to create a list of all of the annual expenses, and I added the costs together, divided by 12, and simply make a monthly payment for all of those costs into one account (Insurance/Tax/Etc fund). I can look at the list of annual expenses to see what is due that month, because I have them listed in order, January thru December. That one thing really took a lot of work and stress out of my financial life. Errors stopped happening, the money was there when it was needed. I learned that approach from America's Cheapest Family years ago, and it totally changed my financial life to the better.

If I could add one thing that I see as the most important to quit, do not tell others that you prep or about your preps. That SHTF day telling others will be your demise.
