Since the Covid-19 pandemic, more and more American citizens have been settling in Madrid. Last year, 11,000 of them were registered in the Spanish capital. The trend began during the first Trump mandate and has gathered steam since Donald Trump returned to the White House. One of the reasons: his attacks on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Gay, lesbian, queer and trans Americans are among those choosing Madrid as a more accepting climate, as our team reports.

Must be nice having enough money to just up and move to Europe.

Wow so the head line is entirely wrong. The article shows a gay man who moved two years ago, not "amid dei crackdown" and the example couple is straight... And the consultant for folks trying to move says nothing about why people wanting to move being dei based.

The only gay shown actually even thinking about moving says its not about the here and now but potential future changes (kids, marriage) not some current "crackdown".

Lets try a real headline "gay man decides to stay in spain because he likes it", "meet a gay man considering moving to spain in an unlikely theoretical", "a couples learns spanish isnt that neat", "one person noted an increase in US clients in his small business"...

Shouldn't the title be: some affluent gay Americans enjoy living in Madrid?

Other cities in Spain (and Portugal) are cheaper than Madrid. I know several gay seniors who have moved to Spain or Portugal and they are happy, though it takes a while to get used to everything.

I'm envious but happy for them. I don't have that option

Yrs ago I purchased a 1-bedroom apt with balconies in Paris, France as an investment opportunity. Glad I did. Trump and his GOP cult are pushing hardworking Americans with capital and niche work experience out of the US. If the going gets rough and more unstable, there’s another option available to me.

This "report" doesn't explain how they entered the country. They would need a visa to live in Soain. Did they get that? How? Also, the guy looks affluent. How does he get money?

Or you could move to Blue state... or you can stay and fight for your country 😂

Madrid is ruled by right (PP) and far right (Vox) MAGA friendly parties. Do no forget this. Do your job and explain the reality. This video seems more an investment advertisement for rich Gays than a real news. Very poor information from a mazy journalist. You can do best.

This is misleading at best. You have your facts wrong about DEI. It’s not a law, it is a practice that is unjust.

Why not Taiwan? They have a 3 gender policy and are very welcoming.
