She’s much calmer and much more direct . I like that she can joke “ I’m far from perfect, it’s a day to day to day thing - “ - the defensiveness is gone here, a much happier Serena who has taken the pressure off herself to have to win from expectations of others . Folks she had a baby then right away made finals if W and the Open last year . Now nearly a year later although older is strong again . She looks great - she won her first slam in 1999 at the Open which makes it nearly 20 years which is unbelievable . Evert, Graf, Navratilova all won their first and last slam 12 years apart or for 13 years consecutively in Everts stats . Chris ( 1974-1986) Graf ( 1987-1999) Martina (1978-1990) and if Serena wins W it will be 1999-2019 . If not she is still playing the Open and I’m sure the 2020 AO . She deserves number 24 to share the record with Court but I hope she wins 25 . Then I’m sure retirement May enter her mind but Serena being Serena will play till she knows for sure she can’t win a slam . As long as she’s making slam SF I believe she will keep playing unless she has a serious injury that takes her out of the game . The final is for her to win it lose - she can’t be overpowered but she can be mentally beat .
