SprintLayout - Re-drawing a PCB using scanned copies

Re-drawing TheFinalChesscard to show you how SprintLayout can be used to make a copy of a PCB. I wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! I didn't get to show you the use of SprintLayout in the C64 KU motherboard replica project, and therefor I made this video.

Ps. This is my first time using Olive Video Editor with Ubuntu 19.10.

Using SprintLayout 6.0.

Tracing PCB's is pretty therapeutic. Used to do it a lot back when I was heavy into modular synths. Traced many of Ken Stone's Cat Girl Synth modules. Nice and easy one sided pcb's. Abacom's Lochmaster is also an amazing program. Made strip/protoboard layouts so much easier, and it allowed for some pretty interesting things like upright or crookedly placed resistors, and jumperwires going everywhich way. I vividly remember actually switching back and forth between tracing synthesiser module pcb's and rebuilding them from the schematics on stripboard. Merry christmas dude, thanks for all the interesting video's!

Thanks for sharing this. My old pen and photo copy version of this is now consigned to history.

Nice, you make it look so easy. And I guess, like all things it is once you put the hours in and know what you are doing 😉 Looking forward to more videos for 2020, Happy Christmas and New Year !

Very nice video! Thank you for this!

It looks a lot like what I did with a keyboard PCB in KiCad/PCBNew. I guess the procedures are more or less the same, maybe depending on whether you decide to make a schematic and assign footprints first, or build the PCB on its own.

Hi bwack, I'm having trouble aligning the grid to the scanned PCB I have. I'm working on a similar project to this as it is an expansion card for an old synth from the 80's, it uses the same layout as the commodore 64 too so I thought this video would be perfect. I'm frustrated to the point where I am tempted to just free-form the layout without a grid, but I know that wouldn't be "professional". I could really use your help on this, thank you.
