Doom and gloom is a good source of aoe that you generally lack without electrodynamics while also giving you the more backloaded damage of darknes. this card is an absolute lifesaver on defect in floor one or if you see it early-mid on floor 2 and is a good early upgrade candidate. Doom&gloom is one of those cards that fits into nearly every build too and can function in almost every combat encounter effectively its what i qould define as a "snap pick" on defect especially early in the run.

Consume is crazy in any build that wants to evoke orbs and is an auto pick with the relic that generates orb slots over time imo. Early claws are also def an auto pick as an easy way to scale in fights and benefit from the draw cards like coolheaded that you already pick on the regular. Go for the eyes feels like something you should be picking up more often too but it does need an upgrade to really shine to be fair so i can get why you dont take it that often.

Newer viewer here(i came in from the balatro videos) so im not sure how often NL reads comments but you did say when you started the defect StS vids to try and offer helpful advice.
