Budae Jjigae is a pretty interesting meal. It comes from immediately after the Korean War, and many American army bases were abandoned. Korea fell into a post war depression so lots of families were starving. Koreans raided these abandoned bases for leftover food rations and made a stew out of them. And over a few years Budae Jjigae was made. It’s now a beloved Korean dish with some popular variations to its recipe.

That’s not how it’s made, thats basically kimchi stew. The traditional stew is made with tofu, chives, mushrooms, spam, sausages, americano cheese, ramen, kimchi but not too much, and a sauce of gochugaru, Korean chili paste, garlic, sugar, fish sauce, soy sauce. This is not quite it but looks good still!

Pretty poor attempt at a basic food, not even gonna use chives and talk about health it wealth 😂
