I'm completely crushed. 70 yo white woman with two black sons and 4 little black grand daughters. I remember segregation, I remember girls dying of back alley abortions. I remember the white backlash and corporate power grabs of the late 70s and 80s. I remember Clinton cutting medicare and medicaid and my home care patients sobbing in their wheelchairs wondering what will happen to them. I have seen the middle class become poor. The winning message for Democrats would have been raise the minimum wage to $20 an hour. Medicare for all. Tax billionaires out of existence. But Mr. Boyer is right. We have to channel our grief into action.

I am a 54 year old black woman who lives in Baltimore, Maryland. And I am shocked and appalled how many black men that I personally know who voted for Trump. Their reasoning was he doesn’t really think Trump is a racist that it’s all just shtick! Almost like when Black people are alone with one another and we call white people “honky”! He thinks Trump‘s racist comments fall in that category so he is comfortable with having voted for Trump. Several other black men that I spoke with said that they would never vote for a black woman or that they didn’t believe Kamala Harris was black that she was lying just to get the black vote. These are the same black men who are insecure and would never feel comfortable with being in a healthy relationship with a black woman let alone vote for her as president.
