The story in the MV is basically that the kids in the marching band (a younger version of themselves maybe) are anxious before performing, each set represents a different emotion (the 4 chinese characters) and each emotion (mostly negative like fear) disappears until only "pleasure" is left (pronounced rak, the group did a pun with rock)

That would be Felix! We call it the “Felix effect”. And Chris is the leader. Sooo much history here. I hope you watch many more!

About Stray Kids:

Leader Bang Chan was an idol trainee at JYP for several years. While waiting to debut with a group, he formed a rap group called 3Racha with two other trainees, Changbin and Han. They wrote and produced their own music. JYP gave Bang Chan the highly unusual opportunity to help develop his own idol group (which they did through a reality show, but Bang Chan had WAYYYY more say in picking the members than pretty much any other idol trainee in the industry), and when Stray Kids was formed 3Racha was absorbed into that group.

3Racha still performs on occasion. Several of their songs / videos are posted on YouTube. They write / produce (and often compose/arrange) the vast majority of the music for Stray Kids. Over the years the other members have also gotten involved in writing and production.

Stray Kids debuted in 2018. They started with 9 (in their early videos, you'll see 9 people performing) but Woojin left in Oct 2019. Stray Kids have been an 8-member group ever since.

DanceRacha - main dance unit (Hyunjin, Felix (the deep-voiced guy), and Lee Know). But all 8 members dance very well.

VocalRacha - main vocal unit (Seungmin and I.N). But again, all 8 members have great singing voices and they switch around on lead vocals, depending on the song.

Main rappers - Changbin, Han, Hyunjin and Felix - but unlike many K-pop groups, all 8 members can and have rapped, depending on the song.

Languages:

Bang Chan (the leader of the group) and Felix (deep-voiced guy) are both Korean-Australian, so English is their first language. The other 6 members speak English with varying degrees of fluency.

All 8 members are fluent in Korean and can also sing / rap in Japanese. They often mix Korean/English and Japanese/English in their songs.

Not all of their music is super hard all the time.

Stray Kids also write / sing beautiful ballads and have also written a few songs for K-drama, anime and video game soundtracks. They also collab with / produce for other idol groups and solo artists from Korea, Japan, China, Thailand and the U.S.

The fandom is called STAY.

Just to recap the members (oldest to youngest):

Bang Chan - leader of Stray Kids, leader of 3Racha (Stray Kids' writing and production unit), main songwriter, main producer, composer, arranger, vocalist, dancer, rapper on some songs

Lee Know - main dancer, choreographer for some of their songs, vocalist, rapper on some songs, songwriter

Changbin - member of 3Racha, main rapper, main songwriter, main producer, composer, vocalist, dancer

Hyunjin - main dancer, main rapper, songwriter, producer, vocalist (also an artist & some of his paintings have been used as art for their songs)

Han - member of 3Racha, main rapper, main songwriter, main producer, composer, vocalist, dancer

Felix - main rapper, main dancer, songwriter, large vocal range when singing - deep bass, baritone and high falsetto

Seungmin - main vocalist, songwriter, dancer, rapper on some songs

I.N - main vocalist, songwriter, dancer, rapper on some songs

You're very right. The Stray Kids lore is Multiverse. They are totally self produced. They write and produce their own music.

Thank you for the reaction! About the MV: In the music video, we see the Chinese characters '喜 (happiness), ' '怒 (anger), ' '哀 (sadness), ' and '樂 (rock/music/joy)' hanging above the guys, with each scene representing an emotion. We see the characters disappear one by one: '怒 (anger)' goes first, then '喜 (happiness), ' and finally '哀 (sadness).' At the end, only '樂 (rock/music/joy)' remains, signifying its power. The giant creatures represent what the kids feel during their performance.

And yes, Stray Kids have their own style, which is more energetic compared to the rest of K-pop. It even has its own name: 'mala taste.' But they also have some slower songs.

Wow, the brother new to kpop did a great job in analyzing the story. Multiverse hit it on the nail! Good job!

Thanks for chekcing out Stray Kids. Their music is viewed as it's own special genre in kpop. They tend to blend more genres and sounds into their music. They have strong rapper and singers so they are known to play with switch ups in beats and song structures more than others. They are also known for all the members being strong in the areas of singing, rapping and dance. And very rare to kpop they have a lot of creative control, write their own music and self formed their group. God's Menu is considered one of their best songs what solidifified their style. As hard hitting as many of their songs are, they have a large discography and have softer and different musical sides to them in some of their b sides.

"I can't wait to see the comments" And a flood of info-dumping, neurospicy, absolutely enthusiastic fans (STAY, incld me) are happy to oblige! I don't have a lot to add to what has already been said.

You definitely gotta react to MEGAVERSE by Stray Kids! They are all amazing vocalists, lyricists, music composers and rappers! 3 out of the 8 members are the music producers of Stray Kids, making them a self-producing K-pop group! They do it all! It's insane seeing that much of talent in one group! Looking forward to more Stray Kids (and hopefully also Ateez) reactions!

They are worth every moment of your time. TRUST ME when you get to this later stage of your life (early 50s), you don't have time to mess around listening to garbage. I am that 70s/80s kid who absolutely had their mixtapes of every genre and style and for whatever reaaon, Kpop was never on my radar. I was that person who scrunched her nose at it...UNTIL Stray Kids. They were my gateway and now the ultimate group by which I measure ALL music. Even my R&B/Hip Hop listening husband has separate kpop playlists and is intrigued by the talent and work ethic of these artists!

Back to SKZ... what I absolutely love is that they have had a hand on almost every single one of their tracks from before their beginnings and have one of the most diverse and eclectic discography filled with genius compsition and lyrics. I love.how self aware they are and it comes through on every track. Every song is carefully constructed with masterful and clever lyrics and they can flex FACTS without being assholish or putting down anyone else.

Not bad for a bunch of guys who are haven’t hit 27!

They have years of content that would keep a channel busy and a fandom that is incredibly dedicated. It's definitely their own megaverse.

I hope you can dive deeper. They will be in the sights of western mainstream media with their upcoming release on July 19th. Rumor has it *wink wink* (there is so much history behind that collab) that they will feature someway/somehow in Deadpool and Wolverine. Our guess is that they will be on the soundtrack. I also believe we'll catch them somewhere IN the film.

They are a group worthy of every accolade. Each member brings their talent to the table in a unique way and they truly seem like good humans. I'm looking forward to watching their continued meteoric rise!

In my opinion, the best way to understand this song is to put yourself in the children's place, that feeling you have when you have to present yourself to certain circumstances such as a recital, anxiety, fear, those that seem alien represent those feelings that prevent us from continuing. forward and how different scenarios are created to try to overcome those fears, in this case based on popular movies or tastes such as pirates, pallasos like in the Batman movie, scenarios like Mad Max, scenes that impact us, how a child can relate it. with the fears, and then seeking peace of mind, he decides to follow his own rhythm and rock, leaving all those feelings aside and managing to overcome them. Another detail is when the song ends and they raise their hands, the sign they make is love in sign language, transmitting that feeling to themselves, sorry for the long explanation but the message is beautiful in this song.

A little more info about Stray Kids:

They are a multi-award winning and record-setting (as far as pre-release / post-release album sales) group who perform in countries around the world in completely filled stadiums that hold upwards of 50K / 60K people, as well as performing incredible, bring-down-the-roof performances at various awards shows.

They have been featured in many publications, among them Rolling Stone magazine, Billboard magazine, The New York Times, and Time magazine (and many others). A 2020 article in Time Magazine said they had one of the top 10 songs of the entire year. They were the only K-pop group on the list.

They have won rookie / male group / album / dance performance / single song / global artist and producer awards at the MTV VMAs, the Billboard Music Awards, MTV Europe Music Awards, the People's Choice Awards, the IHeartRadio Awards and many awards shows throughout Asia.

They received a special award from the Prime Minister of South Korea.

They have appeared on American shows, such as The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Entertainment Tonight, LIVE with Kelly and Ryan, Good Day New York, Good Morning America and more.

They consistently are among the top groups to be played on Spotify and other streaming music platforms.

Their songs have been on Billboard's Hot 100 and Global 200 charts, and four (4) of their albums have been no. 1 on Billboard's top 200 album chart.

In 2024, among many other awards and honors, Stray Kids were the only K-pop group to make the Gold House A100 list of "Asian-Pacific Most Impactful Leaders." It recognizes the “100 Asian Pacific leaders who have most significantly impacted American culture and society in the last year.”

Also in 2024, Stray Kids were the first full K-pop group to be invited to the Met Gala in New York as guests of clothing designer Tommy Hilfiger (who also custom-designed their outfits for the Gala). Other K-pop artists have been invited to the Met Gala individually, but not as a full group.

to give you an idea how popular they are.

"This is giving me a Wild Boys by Duran Duran feel" -- absolutely. You nailed it. As a child of the 80's myself, I've always said the road from Duran Duran to Stray Kids is a straight line. (See also: the road from The Fixx to Ateez.)

And if you're interested in hearing some more rock with your k-pop, check out Xdinary Heroes!

Tyty for reacting to stray kids! They are really unique and amazingly talented. They write and produce their own music and are really dedicated to experimenting with sounds and mixing genres in order to convey their message, so each song tends to be very different 😂. In lalalala, they were portraying the chaos of emotions that can hold people (i.e. the kids) back from just enjoying life and what they do. The music and the video are thus chaotic, but the main message is to let trivial worries and fears go, and instead just "feel the rhythm of the world" and " let it rock." A lot of stray kids songs deal with mental health and the importance of being yourself. I really hope you react to more! "God's menu" is the song that made them blow up, "levanter" is a more typical/smoother kpop song, "top line" has fire rap and a solo by Tiger JK, "maniac" is a super cool blend with a great message, "easy" is more hip hop, "sound effects" is highly experimental psytrance, "the sound" is rockish, "s class" is a trip through pop music history/genres, "cover me" is a gorgeous ballad, "loose my breath" is a western pop collab w charlie puth. Not sure what type of SKZ song you would enjoy most, but there's something for everyone 😂❤.
