We speak with Democratic Congressmember Ro Khanna about the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank, regulating the banking sector, and how Federal Reserve interest rate hikes contributed to the banking crisis. Silicon Valley Bank was based in Khanna's district in California, and he has criticized fellow Democrats who supported a 2018 bill that weakened banking oversight for some banks. "We need to regulate large regional banks the same way that we regulate the Big Four banks," says Khanna. He also talks about growing concern from lawmakers about the social video app TikTok, the Biden administration's policy on Taiwan and Ukraine, and more.

Anytime you hear a politician say something like "what about the children" or "we must protect the children" you should put your guard up and be very careful because rest assured what's to follow will have little to nothing to do with child safety and lots to do with removal of rights!

Khanna's explanation of why he voted with House Republicans to denounce "the horrors of socialism" seemed like an evasive non-answer.

The "horrors of socialism"? How about the horror of cynical hypocrisy?

Why just Socialism? Are we to assume capitalism, fascism, feudalism or imperialism has not had horrific outcomes in the past??

Ro Khanna is a good talker, but that's about the extent of it. Don't forget, He's a politician.

Ironically, in China there are strict limits to the use of TikTok; what can be put up on the platform and the access by young people to TikTok. Could it be they know something we choose to ignore while cashing in on corporate profit?

Skepticisim comes to mind with R.K. Just remember Obama - another attractive and eloquent speaker - how did things turn out during his terms for the middle and working class and for the Oligarchy, Finance and the Corporations ??

I believe Bernie is a democratic socialist. Calling him a socialist is a right wing talking point.

I hate that Pol Pot has become an example of a "Communist" in our timeline

US’s free market and equal opportunity = Chinese firms are still allowed to do business in the US as long as their services or products are not number one brand or the best selling in the US, otherwise it will be considered as national security threats, which is guilty without evidence. i.e. DJI, Huawei, HiKvision, container gantry crane, and now Tit Tok.

Luckily China’s made condom is not number one brand in the US, otherwise it will be labeled as national security threat as the law makers will argue that no woman is getting pregnant which affects the growth of population.

We remember The protests against the Iraq war here in Karachi, Pakistan on Feb 15th 2003. I was 16 years old. We marched in hundreds against the war. President Bush went to Iraq saying he wants democracy there while supporting a Military dictator in Pakistan.

Government banking / investment banking / insurance regulations are messed up. Glass Stengall type regulations should come back. Obviously Dodd Frank is crap. What is the matter with state banking regulations. Power should not be centralized with federal government.
