Thirty years ago, Niki Lauda told us ‘take a monkey, place him into the cockpit and he is able to drive the car.’ Thirty years later, Sebastian told us ‘I had to start my car like a computer, it’s very complicated.’ And Nico Rosberg said that during the race – I don’t remember what race – he pressed the wrong button on the wheel. Question for you both: is Formula One driving today too complicated with twenty and more buttons on the wheel, are you too much under effort, under pressure? What are your wishes for the future concerning the technical programme during the race? Less buttons, more? Or less and more communication with your engineers?

Omg! I would need a class on each button individually that affects the car! I've seen Lewis Hamilton, during a race, make adjustments for virtually every turn on the fly. He's adjusting brake balance, possibly the differential as well and having a conversation with Toto while negotiating a turn and racing another car. That is an incredible feat that very few can perform successfully with consistency.

This makes me think of George Russell subbing for Lewis, going from the Williams wheel with no on-wheel LED screen to the Mercedes system and then back again right near the end of the racing season. I hadn't given that any thought then. So many opportunities for mistakes every lap, especially when the heart rate is up. This makes it more impressive.
