When War Thunder's Wind of Change update was released, the German PUMA IFV caused a really big fuss. It was one of the most broken vehicles added in recent history, and Gaijin swiftly moved it from a battle rating of 8.3 to 9.0 in realistic battles. However, the PUMA wasn't the most broken IFV in War Thunder. That title has always belonged to the Russian BMP-2M. The BMP-2M is a squadron vehicle that can be obtained by anyone for money, so although it's a stupidly powerful vehicle, its stats don't reflect that. The BMP-2M is perfectly fine even at absolute top tier, which I intend to demonstrate.

I was one of those people who immediately bought the bmp2m when I finally researched it. Despite my lack of top tier experience, I preformed decent due to how busted the damned thing is

The only good thing about being on the other team against the BMP-2M is the engine and tracks are so damn loud you can hear it from the other side of the map. Just camp until it passes by. Bug swatting at its finest.

It's gun? Sure, that's probably 8.7 worthy, thermals aren't unusual to other IFVs around it.

All looks go- oh wait, what are these 4 on demand tandem ATGMs doing here at 8.7?

EDIT: Annnnd not even 24 hours later BR patch drops and it goes to 9.3

Also it has APFSDS now. Oh joy.

Fun fact: When reloading ammo on a point. You are still allowed to turn and continue the reload. You can abuse this by turning back and forth over and over, allowing you to slowly move forward and keep the reload. Long as you don't neutral steer anyway.

For those wondering, these missiles have the same penetration and _more_ explosive mass then hellfires.

your team lost the last match cause no one ever goes for C on that map. when you take C, you can out flank the enemy team and if your team is competent they will push the enemy back to spawn.

The thing with the BMP-2M that frustrates me alot, is that it's Ammo belt under the turret regularly gets Destroyed, but doesn't detonate. It simply goes black, then disappears. Then the BMP-2M just shoots a missile at you and Overpressures your entire Crew, regardless of where it Hit. Its UFP is also comically Bouncy, i'm pretty sure any 105mm APFSDS would be able to overmatch it.

BMP-2M is pretty powerful but for some reason, I gravitate towards the BMD-4 more. I usually take it as my first spawn, get into a good position early game with its mobility. Only issue would be the amount of ATGM's you get, which is fine because I can spawn in on the BMP-2M or go to a cap and refill.
I've found there's plenty of advantages compared to the BMP-2M, sight of fire being inline with gunner optics means that I won't flub up launching an ATGM at a bush that was beside me, better gun depression w/ hydro suspension, obviously better mobility for getting into hiding spots on flanks quicker compared to BMP-2M. But realistically, they both compliment one another in my lineup. BMP-2M I rarely get to use most times because BMD-4 is always my first spawn.

The "fun" part? This vehicle is de facto BMPT Terminator in terms of firepower since BMPT can't reload its missiles either and one of its 30mm autocannons is dedicated to HE rounds so it's the same as using 30mm AGL on most combat distances(in fact AGL HE rounds would be stronger due to having thinner walls and more filler). This is also why BMPT sails failed. Algeria for example just bought these turrets(Berezhok), uparmored them and installed them on hulls of their retired T-62's(they had to downsize turret ring). Done. BMPT of sane man.

Yes, that is irrelevant. They are both OP. They both need to be rebalanced. saying the other thing is OP too does not nullify the first thing being too powerful

BMP-2M - 8.7, four tandem ATGMs, 550 rpm APDS with 82mm penetration, and even a 30mm grenade launcher which can damage tracks and knock down obstacles.
Dardo - 9.3, two badly nerfed top-attack ATGMs, 560 rpm APFSDS with 92mm penetration.

I'm fucking done.

The proximity missile is where it's at, easily one hits tanks by slapping their turret so long as the explosion can pin the hull top, which it usually can, and it can slap helis very effectively.

I have to be honest I never did that well in the BMP-2M. I do decent in it but I'll usually rack up more kills in basically any other tank. And I'm not saying that it isn't undertiered, but what I will say is that 99% of the time I die before my missile even leaves the launch tube. BMD-4 just works better for me but maybe that's just a matter of playstyle.

i already have BMP-2 and i love it, this "thing" is just a straigh up upgrade
