Johnnie's Beef Famous Italian Beef Sandwich in Chicago

We were in Chicago and decided to try the famous Johnnie's Beef that offer beefy Chicago Italian Sandwiches. We had the Italian Beef with Spicy Peppers, one with Sweet Peppers, an Italian Sausage Sandwich, and an Italian Ice. The video also shows you the inside of the restaurant- the sausages grilling looked and smelled great!

The Italian Beef Sandwich was dipped in Au Jus, and the spicy peppers went well with it. It was beefy, salty, and the peppers complimented well with the meat. The sausage was quite good as well. Next time, however, we would probably ask for less Au Jus dip on the bread, or ask for it on the side, because our bread did get a bit soggy.

The Italian Ice (aka Italian Lemonade), which is a lemony ice slushy, was really refreshing with a smooth texture and not too sweet. You must have that to go with your sandwiches if you do go to Johnnie's Beef in Chicago!

We were there in August of 2016, and as you can see on the menu in the video, an Italian Beef cost $4.54, Italian Sausage was $3.10, Combo Sausage & Beef was $4.84, and Italian Ice was $1.40 and $1.95 for small & large, respectively. Be prepared to have cash on hand because they don't take credit cards.
