I think the most impressive thing would be his neck muscles. Head probably felt like a feather after that mask came off.

This scene was terrifying to me when I was a teenager watching the movie for the first time. I don't even want to think about how long he was in that mask for.

This is such an underrated movie. Actually, criminally underrated. Acting is top notch, and a good adaptation to Dumas' story.

I think it’s amazing how no words were spoken but it felt like thousands were. Impeccable acting by Leo

Yes, no scars or boils, or even mal formations on the face, no....

A pretty face, with enough tan and nutrition, that defies the very laws of nature... such is Leonardo.

I feel for Philippe. Louis's fear destroyed the poor guy's life.

I absolutely love the way the mask is held over the fire once it is removed, so artistic and beautiful.

It is hilarious how the Musketeers went down in legend as heroic warriors of the king fighting for whats right. Dumas' characters were actually rogues, thieves and conmen who were more accidental heroes. They tried to do the bare minimum of their duty as they could get away with and just got drawn into stuff they never planned for. Porthos seduced and married a widow twice his age because he noticed she had a huge chest full of treasure under her bed and invested it and became a minor lord. D'Artagnan scammed the entire royal court of over 200 golden crowns by buying up all the hay in a village the court had stopped in for the night and made a big show of making himself a comfortable hay bed in front of the nobles sleeping on floors. When they asked where he got the hay he told them there was a guy outside with a big wagon of hay willing to sell it for outrageous prices without telling them the guy outside selling hay was his own servant! He even threatened to beat said servant if he palmed as much as one gold crown to himself. He ended up palming 4 lol

All of them were constantly in debt and on the run from angry husbands whose wives they slept with, creditors they cheated, and tavern owners they had bills due with. They even told the King they would go into a fort and defend it from the British, just the 4 of them. Instead they packed a picnic lunch, set up a few dead bodies on sticks to make the british think there were more than there were, fired a few musket rounds to keep the British cowed and then sat down and had a nice mid day lunch! Then went back to the French lines and were greeted as heroes for stopping a "huge" British assault on the fort.

If you enjoyed any of the Three Musketeer movies over the years, do yourself a favor and pick up the book. (Actually 3 of them. Three Musketeers, 20 Years Later, Man in the Iron Mask). They really do deserve their immortal status.

Leo's acting here was magnificent. I feel bad for Philipe but mad at Louise. That's how well he imbibe his characters in every movie he does. Great actor.

I watched this for the first time with my parents when I was a child. Scenes in the dungeon terrified me but I was so amazed when they took off Leo’s mask
