Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are making a big splash in Avengers: Age of Ultron as the brother-sister team of "miracles". You might know that they've been considered the children of Magneto for many years, but that wasn't always considered canon. Originally, these two had a different dad. A Golden Age superhero of whom you may not have heard: Whizzer! A man with the blood of a mongoose coursing through his veins that has granted him super speed… for some reason.

The recent retcon of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch is ridiculous. Of course, it was only done because of the MCU and it won't last. Years from now, Marvel will realise their mistake and we all know that there will be another retcon that re-establishes that they are the children of Magneto.

Ugh, retconning. I already don't like retconning, but I understand there are times when companies have good reasons to do it. This is not one of those times. Making it so the comics match the movies instead of vice versa is not okay in my book. When you do this, you favor the movie audience who will most likely not read the comics anyway. You're practically punishing the comic audience by taking something that is well known canonically and changing it like that.

I hope if Marvel in the future gets the Rights to x men back that they will make magneto the father of the MCU established scarlet witch and quicksilver. Despite the age of Ultron origin, where the mind Stone gave them their enhanced abilities, they could just explain it away by saying the Stone actually didn't give them their powers, but simple just activated them, which also would explain why they were the only volenteers that succeded. Anyway they would have to reboot the x men franchise if such a deal became reality.

i still like magneto as the father. Even though he didnt die magic is often subjective and full of loopholes. I think because she doesnt see him as her father he wasnt affected by a spell intended for her family. After all, family not just blood its a social relationship

My theory: Wanda keeps altering reality so that their father changes.  It was The Whizzer, but then it wasn't.  Then it was Magneto, until Wanda decided it wasn't..  Now it's whoever it is in this altered reality.  Basically it's all an in-universe retcon.
