Great comparison and thanks for the tutorial Steve. I tried this for several months last summer and fall and came to the same conclusion that the sand silica is better all around. It’s particles even turn dark orange when they can no longer absorb moisture but the microwave will dry them out so you can re-use them.

Just a tip. If you want the freshest roses, give the head of the rose a squeeze. If it’s hard, you know it is fresh. If the head is soft, if is old. 😉

I love watching your videos! I watched this one awhile back but decided to come back and watch again today because I'm drying out my Valentine's day roses from my husband so I can put them in some epoxy. Your videos are so helpful and informative! Also, you were cracking me up slinging that rose around while trying to get the little balls out of the middle 😂😂😂

What a great informative video. I’ve been tempted to try drying my own flowers, but have always been slightly intimidated by the process but this looks super easy! And it’s a good excuse for me to buy ice cream 😂

So happy to see this product! I haven't had much success in drying flowers for all the reasons you mention. I will definitely be getting some of this silica sand! Thank you Steve!!!

You can also dry with table salt too. Much cheaper!…. But very important tip. DO NOT SEAL container with flowers/Salt as the salt will clump up as it absorbs moisture. Just leave with lid off or I actually cut slits in my lid and pop in airing cupboard out of the way for 1 week.

I wish I had known all this before my sister's funeral. I'm going to have to buy fresh flowers & dry them with wisedry because all of my flowers have dents, petals have fallen off, and colors have gone darker or yellow. Thanks to you, I know that I haven't really done anything wrong except use the wrong product. I really appreciate you!

I was just starting to look into drying methods to use more floral things in my resin and this came in super handy! It definitely helped make my decisions in saving a few bucks, so I'll now happily spend the little bit extra for the awesome results! Thanks so much for sharing with us!

I 100% agree. I have used both. I ran out of the sand and could only get the ball. The ball’s ruined a batch of roses. I have had fantastic results with the sand.

WOW what a difference!!! I may even eventually try my hand at drying flowers.... Haven't been successful at it in the past!! So I've always just bought them when I needed to put flowers in anything.
Who knows.... Maybe I can learn yet!!
Stay safe and stay crafty!!! 👍👍🔔🔔🦋🦋

Thank you so much for this wonderfully informative video! I've recently received a beautiful rose and want to preserve it somehow but have never worked with resin before. Now I know I may be able to just dry the rose and keep it for later when I'm comfortable working with resin. That is, if I can get the good silica gel sand in time before my rose starts to wilt!

I just want to say a huge thank you. I am a resin Newby. I randomly stumbled across one of your videos and that's how I got hooked. I re watch as needed before trying something new. This particular video I watched a ton and the end results were just amazing. I made a keepsake with my daughter's prom corsage flowers. I do not use YouTube often so I have no clue how to or if I can send a picture. But anyways THANK YOU SO MUCH! I love watching all your resin videos and learn so much from you.
