😭😭My big brother was a Franciscan priest for 39 years. For special anniversaries my family would "gift" him custom made stoles. Since I was about his size the tailor that made the stoles used me as a "sewing" dummy.

The oldest vestment we still regularly use in our parish is a 15th century red chasuble with exquisite embroidery. It is one of only a few vestments that could be saved during the 1566 iconoclasm. When I help the priest get dressed in this chasuble I feel connected with the church of all ages. With all the brothers and sisters who came before us.

Father, I am from India. Despite being born a catholic and bought up in a very strong catholical environment and household and having a very strong catholical ancestral roots in my family, I wasn't much interested in catholism. My focus and interest was shifted to other religions and denominations in Christianity to know the way they are different from us and the impeccablity of difference in beliefs in us and them. Only after watching ur channel videos I realized the beauty of my religion and my church as being the holy apostolic church founded by Christ himself through Peter. Only after watching your videos I gained a strength in my religion and become more interested in performing my religious duties as a member of the Catholic church. Thank you for inspiring us to embrace the beauty of catholism . Do continue your service for the glory of God by posting many videos like this and strengthing our faith in the Catholic church. It is only by your videos that I realized that our church is the very continuation of the church our Lord has established himself and not formed because of heretical movement protesting against and dividing the very Church, Christ has founded. Even now I don't know whether you will see this message or will reply to this message, but I felt that it is my duty to express my Thanks and gratitude to bring this 19yr old teenage sinner back to his home, and strengthing his faith in his holy family. I will always keep you in my prayers Father . Do keep me too in your prayers Father. 😊😊

Catholic Liturgy is so beautiful. As an artist, I feel so drawn to it. There's a Catholic church across the street from my protestant church, and sometimes I go there to pray. God bless you!!!

I altar serve at my church and I finally realized that the priests were probably burning in their vestments! The cassock and surplice are pretty warm, but it's very nice to serve. I never knew that all baptized could wear an alb which is pretty cool. Thank you for another great video Father Casey!

Excellent job, Fr. Casey. As a Permanent Deacon, I have two priests that get mad at me because I dont wear a Cincture. They argue that it is mandatory except our Bishop too says that it is optional.

I will never forget 2 weeks ago when I went to a TLM and I spoke with the priest and as we spoke he took off his stole and kissed it. Beautiful

I was expecting you to discuss further and expound on other vestments worn in other Catholic traditions (and probably even the Orthodox tradition -- but you are under no obligation to discuss this), as shown in the picture you used in the thumbnail. Could you perhaps make a part 2 where you discuss Eastern Catholic vestments and how they differ from each other? Would be interesting to see the comparison.

This proves once again that everything in our Catholic faith has a symbol and a purpose. Great video!

Maybe you could also make a video about other items used in the liturgy like the corporal, purificator, the lavabo towel, palla and burse (although I believe the last two are not used everywhere).

Video suggestion: rare, obscure or defunct vestments like the pallium, the rationale, and the fanon.

As a young child, i wasn't very religious (even today, i sometimes miss the weekly mass, forgive me Lord), but one of the main reasons I cam to church and wanted to serve the altar, was the vestments of the altar servers in my parish. Thinking of it today, that might have been a way for God to bring me towards Him.

Love the Catholic traditions. There's consistency and stability. Nothing is out of whim.

Could have renamed the title to Roman Catholic Vestments to be Factually correct as there are 23 other oriental Catholic churches with its own diversity in liturgy and vestments🙂. And as always great content

In Norway also Evangelic Lutheran priests wear the alb, stole and the chasuble (only during Eucharist and throughout the whole mass on Christmas Day, New year's Day, Easter Sunday and Pentecost Sunday or if it's special feasts). The cope is only used by bishops and bishops also wear a purple 🟣 shirt.
I do prefer the catholic vestments. The liturgy is also very similar to the catholic liturgy. A typical Norwegian high mass: Prelude and hymn, greeting, confession of sin, Kyrie, Gloria, 1. reading, hymn, 2. reading, the Gospel, homily, Credo, hymn, intercessions, Eucharist with Sanctus, Our Father, Angus Dei, hymn, blessings and sending (ité missa est). So we are not that much different in the liturgy.

I am an altar server. We dont wear albs, we wear cassocks in my Parish. A Cassock and a white Surplice is what I wear weekly when I serve the Vigil Mass on Saturday in my Parish.

I had found the names of the vestments super confusing before this... thank you for the succinct visual definitions :D
