Welcome Poles (Totem Poles) Raising Ceremony Cumberland BC June 21 2023

This short video is of a pole raising ceremony in Cumberland BC (June 21 2023). This event recognizes a number of things. In the words of Andy Everson; For the blessing of two welcome poles, as well as an honouring of the ancestral lands and peoples on which kwaxdiz'dzas
(Cumberland Affordable Housing Project) will be built. The event was moving to say the least. It was filmed entirely on an Insta 360 (1 inch camera) which in retrospect was the wrong camera. I was happy to combine the photography of Jim Whyte which adds a bit more focus. The audio is not the best as was captured by the Insta camera, but better than expected. Hope you enjoy.
