Native Americans bring totem pole outside Capitol to raise awareness | AFP

A 25-foot totem pole carved by Native American artists is displayed on the National Mall in Washington, DC, during a ceremony attended by tribal leaders and US Interior Secretary Deb Haaland. The totem left Washington state on July 14 and travelled thousands of miles across the country as part of a tour of several Indigenous places, in order to draw attention and action to sacred sites and Indigenous rights. After the welcome ceremony, the totem pole will be displayed in front of the National Museum of the American Indian until July 31. The House of Tears Carvers of the Lummi Nation has created a tradition of carving and delivering totem poles to areas struck by disaster or in need of hope. Their first journey took place in the wake of the 9/11 attacks in New York.

Really? The description says the totem pole is for "areas struck by disaster or in need of hope." yet the video says its "to draw attention to sacred sites and demand Indigenous rights." So witch is it? Also why does it sound like something blm would do.
