Harbor freight sells fluid extractors for cheap. We use them in the marina on boats!

Good ol classic Toro 22" Recycler. I've had the same one for 20 years. Went to move into a new house and there was one chillin in the shed! Now I have 2! My parent's had to have their ride-on worked on recently so I lent them the spare. Such a trusty mower.

Thanks for this. I've been tilting my mower on the side, my whole life, cleaning dirty oil every year!

I had a push mower with the consumer grade Honda engine. It was only $140 dollars. It may sound crazy but I never changed the oil in 20 years. I wanted to see how long it would last. The carburetor finally gave out. It started the first pull and ran great the entire 20 years even after winter storage and I left the gas in it over winter.

Add an ounce and a half of Seafoam to whatever gas is left. Top up the gas to full with ethanol free gas. Start the motor and run for a minute. The mower is now winterized. Change air filter and spark plug. I like to sharpen my blade in the spring after first mow. Polish and clean mower and put away. Seafoam conditions the gas keeping rust from forming. Keeping carburetor clean. Many times my mower starts on first pull. Certainly the second. I don’t reccomend draining gas for storage. The key is Seafoam. I notice you bag your clippings vs mulching them. No blower? If you don’t put back those clippings you deprive the lawn of weekly nutrients to build your soil. It becomes necessary to spoon feed nutrients in between regular feedings. I mentioned Seafoam. You can also put a little Seafoam in oil before you change the oil. Oil makes deposits and sludge. The Seafoam keeps your fuel AND oil tank clean and deposit free. It also adds lubricity. Wonderful stuff. I wish I owned that company.

It works mine is a plastic bottle with lines going through cap. It’s a wide mouth cap, didn’t have jar handy.

I've had a couple of mowers like you have there. The decks on these are fabulous. Even the paint sticks good for some odd reason. They're really strong and they stay looking good for a long time. Especially if you take care of it like it looks like you do. Have a good day😊

I made one of these about 10 years ago. I even use on full size riding mowers.

Thats the way to do it every time its the best way actually even if you forget to unplug the plug and pull the cord a few times that way gets all the old out and any little particles to or sludge it'll suck out

Pro pro tip, use a tie wrap. Don't tighten it all the way so it is loose enough to slide down to release the lever to shut it off. Then squeeze the lever and slide the tie wrap back into place to keep it running again.

MAD Mowers here. If your fresh oil is to clear to easily see on the dip stick. Once you are close, don’t do this empty), run the mower for a moment and then let it settle again. The oil will now be a little dirty and easier to see.

I thought this was going to be a joke before I saw it. Now I think I’m going to try it. Thank you!

For reading the dipstick, a flashlight helps the most. The oil will shine much differently than the rest of the dry dipstick.

I always use a length of rope when mowing to hold down the safety bar to save my hands. I bought a mower with an easy access drain plug
