Love, Greg Valentines honesty, like he’s reliving it the moment

I saw Greg wrestle Bruno in Madison Square Garden on the MSG Network in 1979. Bob Backlund was the new WWWF Champion and they loaded up the cards with major stars to help him draw. The Bruno vs Greg match was part of a double main event. Excellent match.

Man, Greg is one of the best shoot interviews ever, the dude just has such history with the business and soooo many wrestlers and legit doesn't give a damn what he's saying. So brutally honest!

Greg is so honest. Love listening to his stories. You'll never hear Greg burying another wrestler. Glad to see Greg doing well.

We were at a golf course and saw Wahoo and Gordon Solie hit a tree with their golf cart. Both were totally smashed. They quit and went back to the clubhouse for more drinks. We went to the clubhouse after our round and Wahoo, Solie, and a few other wrestlers were still drinking.

I don't know what it was about The Hammer's elbow drops, how ever he did them, they looked/felt heavy and real. Always enjoyed his matches. Great upper-mid-card guy. A heel but not an over-the-top one. Occupied his on space and always elevated whatever promotion he was working with.

Used to watch Studio Wrestling on Channel 11 and yes the one wall had people on it! Bill Cardill was the announcer.

The “Wig Bruno” DLC isn’t talked about enough

Greg vs Bruno, MSG and Boston, 1979. The MSG match was televised and there's a video of it on YT, the Boston match wasn't, no luck finding any video of it.

His dad not liking Bruno explains a lot. Johny Valentine was with Flair a lot till the plane crash. Probably why Flair didn't like Bruno

For some reason I didn't catch on about Bruno's wig until I saw the weave on the cover of a wrestling magazine. I had wondered how he had hair when previously he was very thinning.

I love the way Mr.Valentine tells stories! I was always a fair weather fan until one key moment: it was during his promo for the FIRST KING OF THE RING which was to take place in Boston! I think a local radio station paid for the Trophy, which was the 1st prize, not some goofy cape and crown! Greg acted like he didn't care about the trophy and said: "When I win, the first thing I'm gonna do is spit on it!" The rest, I can't remember because I was laughing too hard! I was a fan for life! I wish I could have seen Greg's Tag Team matches with another favorite, Ric Flair, I 'll bet they're hysterical! As well as those coin treasure matches from Mid Atlantic (?)*

[*Whoever beat Greg would win a big jar full of silver dollars, which I thought was cool and a unique prize!]

WIIC Channel 11 in Pittsburgh with local weatherman, Bill Cardille, announcing . . . cutouts for a crowd background and a couple Ringside Rosies for color. Local hero Bruno Sammartino . . . armdrag takedown. Hip toss. Armdrag takedown . . . bulldog.
Ahhh . . . I remember those days.

Punched Wahoo McDaniel and sent him to one knee, shaking his head - the moment I heard that was the moment I realized I would share my whiskey with Greg Valentine.🤣

Channel 11 in Pittsburgh was an nbc affiliate whose call letters were wiic, later wpxi.
