The fastest way to improve your mixes is to get feedback from a professional outside source - an experienced engineer who can help you refine your musical vision.
This video shows a couple examples of how I've helped my students rapidly pinpoint & fix the problems in their mixes.

I was a runner at a recording studio for two years after I graduated highschool. I sat there every day watching the entire process from start to finish, hearing and seeing what good quality audio production is like.
Just go to a reputable studio in your area and tell them you'll work for free. I highly recomend that experience for people starting out.
Depending on the studio, they may even let you run a session or two

Just my opinion but for those who watch your channel to really walk away with further "real understanding", this video is one of the better examples of a truly good method to present this craft in a far more comprehensive manor for those who are just tagging along doing their best to understand.. this method is tangible for any level of skill to visually and audibly understand what most are prob after who watch these channels.. I love to see everyone's methods and equipment but anyone can learn tons with methods of delivery like this...
I don't ever comment bro but I just see a lot of potential value for viewers in this specific method.. you should concider explaining and exploring more of this exact method for those who truly spend time with you to really "learn".
I'm a fan and by all means my opinion isn't shit... but to me it was worth speaking up if you ever do read this..
Be kool my dude....

Great stuff as always Jordan! Best thing I ever did was joining the program way back when. So much value since you’re still always giving great info that cuts through the static out there 🙌🙏

I thought the original mix sounded pretty good, tbh. The immediate things that jumped out to me were that the kick and snare were weak. I could obviously tell he'd fixed them in the second version. But I really didn't think the first version was "fairly amateur." You could hear everything clearly and it didn't sound muddy or overly bright.

How much do you charge per mix song? Would love you mix some of the projects I am working on! Especially heavy metal 🎸 around 10 songs

I’m considering joining your group simply for getting feedback from others.

Hi, got a question if you don't mind about overhead EQ. What are you doing on the overheads in the first example in terms of cutting the low end? I'm totally blind so can't unfortunately look at what your EQ plugins are doing. Also what is the maximum you would ever boost on a source, I'm afraid to go past boosting 6.5 to 7DB thinking if I can't hear it by then either the tracks are bad or there's something wrong with my playback or hearing.
Thanks
Marshall

Thanks, if it is somewhere that i can say my mind: first track transformed in a sense and it became amazingly good. for the second mix I have to say that its mix somehow isn't that good, for one, bass has too much tail to it, also too much consistency, one would say It is over compressed.
