Urbanears Plattan 2 Bluetooth Headphones Volume Issue

Demonstrates an issue with the Urbanears Plattan 2 Bluetooth Headphones. On a Pixel 3a running Android 11, setting the volume to levels 1, 2 or 3 via the device's volume rocker results in no sound. Using the control knob of the headphones, the volume level jumps from 0.5 (though silent) to around 3.5, with no way to access levels 1, 2 or 3.

I get similar results on the following Mac laptops:.
MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019)
Macbook Air (Retina, 13-inch, 2019)
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, mid 2014)
