DIY sandblaster

If you've ever wanted a sandblaster but thought they were too expensive, here's a video on how to make one for cheap. All it takes is an air blower which I purchased for under 5 bucks, an empty bottle, and some broken glass and an air compressor.

Great vid.
If you put an old bed sheet on the floor, you can recover quite a bit of the sprayed sand etc, like having a mini booth.

Great idea but do not do this without a hopper and cage it's a waste of material. Also, don't do this in the open air. You and everyone around you are at risk of a drastically shortened life due to the silica dust. Doing this in a shop vice is just coating everything in silica dust and slowly poisoning yourself everytime you touch anything. The dust can hang in the air for 30min after you stop. Wearing a mask doesn't do much if you don't take full precautions and wet mop everything. Silica dust is on the same level as Asbestos. You wouldn't go spraying asbestos particulate all over your shop and yard, would you?

Well done, a wet bottle and tiny pieces of glass in the air for someone to breath in. Please people, don't do this. Build your self a sealed sand blaster box instead.

The Idea is good though...(try a dry bottle)... or maybe cut a 2 liter bottle in 1/2 & use a margarine tub lid so it's easier to Phill <sic>
