We 3 friends are on a ride to Spiti Valley from Gurgaon. We will cover about 2000 kms in 10 days where we will explore many places in Kinnaur valley, Pin valley and Spiti valley.

On Day 6, we explored Dhankar Village, where we visited Monastery, fort and lake in the morning. Dhankar lake can be reached by an easy trek of 1 hour. Later in the afternoon we left for Mud village which is the last village in Pin valley. Mud village is very scenic and one of my favourite places of this spiti trip.

This beautiful monastery is locked between the rocky spurs at the top of clif in the Dhankar village at an elevation of over 3,800 meters in the Spiti valley. It is a 16th century old fort monastery, which has also served as a prison in the erstwhile era. The Dhankar Gomba is over 1000 years old and is connected to the rest of the valley through a Motorable road, which is good for small vehicle only. (From Incredible India page)
