I do understand the subconscious aversion to photographing people front-facing. I have found success standing in one place holding my camera up at a scene I liked and waiting for people to naturally stroll in-frame. Great content as always 🙏🏼

Dehancer + Japan is our favourite combo 😄 Thank you, Teo, for using Dehancer to edit your images from Tokyo. They look beautiful and we think you did great with your challenge!
If anyone has any questions about Dehancer, feel free to ask us in the comments below 😉

It amazes me the difference of reactions you get when taking photos with a phone vs a camera. Even with my Leica X1 people react or react negatively whereas when I use my phone NOBODY CARES.

Great idea to use your phone to practice photographing people from the front or profile. I like the Winogrand move where you pretend like you have no idea how your camera works and you snap a pick while you fumble around with it.

Dehancer looks great. I’ve been using RNI Films and I just got the Dazz Cam app to make my iPhone photos look like old digicams. Great video!

I have been enjoying the Japan content, especially the windows and greenery in the city. I am drawn to similar scenes and remember being so inspired when visiting Japan.

I think this is an interesting practice in street photography, but personally I’ve never wanted to have photos of strangers and typically wait for them to pass or capture when they are faced away. (So I actually really like what you’ve shown us so far!) Perhaps it has to do with why I take photos, which is more as a historian of my family, so I want my loved ones in the frame instead. I’ve always wondered what the lure of capturing absolute strangers while passing by on the street is . 🤷🏻‍♀️ However, I like seeing/hearing your thought process through your sessions. Thanks for sharing! 😊

great video as always teo! if you're wanting to experiment more with mobile photography, I would recommend checking out some of the lenses that the company 'moment' makes as you could get different focal lengths.

Another banger like always, Teo. Particularly loved the shadows that were cast in this area, seems like you chose a great time of day for lighting to spice up your shots and the presets you used in Dehancer really look great with these photos. Loved a lot of the compositions in this as well. My some of my moments were at 3:28 + 6:20 + 13:40 as well as 19:20 - lovely shots here and I like that today was an iPhone shooting day. Keep up the good work mate!

Bikes are always a good subject in street photography, in my opinion. I am also shy shooting people and being noticed. Especially in Europe. In Japan, however, I feel like people will not easily say something to me if I shoot them, bur rhw hard part is to keep them natural and not disturbed by being photographed :) not easy, not easy… but so fun to do!

Do you think that you felt more likely to shoot vertically while you were using your phone more than if you used the Pentax?

an interesting process; thanks for sharing! I also struggle with taking photos of people out in public, but I feel more trustworthy with an actual camera compared to my phone. I have gotten more comfortable just taking the shot, or like you, letting others walk in to the frame with some planning. Asking for permission always feels awkward and ruins the natural side of things, and also I am sure the culture is somewhat different here in the US
. Cheers
