Hey man. I’ve really been enjoying your channel, photography, video footage and mindset. Especially on making full frame EDC. It’s been quite eye-opening. I had the A7IV and Sigma 24-70 2.8. It was incredible. But ultimately I just found myself not using it for to promote my business and definitely not using it for family and walk around. It was a great tool but uninspiring and heavy. I’ve taken a break for 6 mo this and really miss photography. I looked at the XE4, X100V etc as they look fun. But, I really want the ability to capture great video and, if the opportunity presents itself, use it for paid work (as a side hustle). Your pancake 2.8 shots have really surprised me with the quality. And it’s a small setup.

Question, now the A7C ii is out, would you go for that instead of the A7IV if you had neither? A Sigma 1.4 is as big as I would go for my business or paid work. Many thanks.

Good that you were persistent and tried a different focal length, Adrien. My sense is that, with some exceptions (like biker at 4:34), your 85mm lens would have brought the subjects closer to you, resulting in more impactful compositions. IMO shooting folks at a distance with a 35mm doesn’t give the same human interest intimacy as being close in with a 35mm. Those who opt for 35mm/street genre tend to get very close to their subjects. Perhaps cropping in post would help emphasize the human subjects.
Good perspective shots in this mix, like what you used for the vid thumbnail.
Preset before/after comparison sweeps (😊) work well — would work even better if kept on screen a bit longer.
Were you impacted by the recent typhoon in Japan? Storm made the news for a few days.
BTW, that poor cat looked like it had seen better days and decided to keep its distance.
