Comparison of the flow field around a cycloidal rotor prototype and a URANS CFD simulation

The experimental flow field at 1695 RPM measured using a smoke generator and a propeller-based wind speed sensor is shown on the left side with the green streamlines and the spheres, which show the velocity magnitude from 0 (blue) to 10 m/s (red). The results of a 3D URANS CFD simulation conducted with OpenFOAM (pimpleFOAM) are shown using the same color scale on the right side.
Rotor has a radius of 84.25 mm and 4 blades.
The cycloidal rotor is represented by a cylinder having the radius and span length as the rotor.
