I remember when the David Kats thing happened. The most awkward and funny thing about the whole thing was when Fox News had a debate panel. One of the people on the panel was passionately arguing how video games cause violence and wanted simulated gun violence out of real life tournaments. Then when she learned that Madden was a football game, she was left speechless.

The "What did he shoot me with" line is chilling. The victim probably hoped it was a prank or he was using BBs or rubber bullets and held on to that hope.

For those who also don't know how the justice system works here in Brazil: there is no life-sentence here, the maximum time you can get in jail, no matter the crime, is 40 years. Also no matter the gravity of the crime, there is a chance of you never complete your sentence, ex: Elize Matsunaga, a woman who killed her husband in several pieces, stuffed it inside of a luggage and then tried to burried it, got 19 years and 11 months but was release after completing only 10 years and now works as an Uber, another example is a goalkeeper from an huge team here in Brazil (Flamengo) called Bruno Fernandes das Dores de Souza (aka. Goleiro Bruno) who was arrested on the charges of homicide, concealment of corpse (via making his two dogs eating the corpse), kidnapping and false imprisonment of his own ex-lover Eliza Samudio, which was alleged pregnant of his own child, he got 23 years and 1 month but only completed 10 years and now keeps playing as goalkeeper in a small soccer team and lives like nothing has happened. That's Brazil for ya, the only crimes that's guarantee of death is whatever is related to child and since even the officers knows about how useless these sentences are, they usually announce to everyone what kind of crime you committed before put you in a cell.

The scariest part about these stories is that murderers aren't always handlebar mustache-twirling villains in some dark castle during a thunderstorm. They can and often do appear, sound, and even interact in such an unsuspecting way, that I don't blame anyone for not anticipating these kinds of things.

DoubleLift's story is heartbreaking. I can't imagine what he felt when he first received the news, then still went on to compete in the finals a week later and win. Just overwhelming emotions. Glad to see he's doing well today.

God I wasnt expecting to see Doublelift's story here since he wasnt the perpetrator but given the nature of some of the other coverings that are on the video I suppose its to be expected.

I still remember the day I got the news on what happened to DL's family. Man, I followed this guy closely back in my teenage League years and was rooting for his career. I was even brought to tears in his interview where he swore he would make amends to his parents. The guy deserves better.

Just a quick note: In the Call of Duty case, it was stated that Guilherme only avoided life in prison due to his mental health situation. In Brazil, we do not have life sentences. No one can be in prison for more than 30 years at a time.

If you look up details of the Dota story, the state of Joshua's body was so gruesome. That year he died, many other teenagers were killed by police. Forensics recently revealed foul play. Appreciate wavy adding sociopolitical context.

Many poor kids here play games as an escape.

it's obviously tragic when this type of tragedy happens, but it's also disturbingly fascinating to see how some people can completely fly off the handle for reasons that seem super mundane to everyone else

I can't imagine, he finally realized that despite the drama, he still loved his family and just wanted to go back and be with them again, just for his brother that he looked up to to go and kill their mom and hospitalize their dad.

Man the last story was such a tragedy and an embarrasment to my countrys authorities. I lived in the same town as him for 21 years before migrating to canada. Police will kill "alleged" drug suspects just to meet their quota so they can get promoted. People would rather go to a radio talk show (raffy tulfo in action) than going to the police to report an incident

Ingrid deserves better. Can't believe they'd let a complete psycho like that run loose after only 14 years. At least that woman who was locked up for 40 years showed actual guilt for her actions.

I still watch some of DoubleLifts content and I completely forgot all of this happened. The fact that he was able to keep himself together and keep trucking is amazing. Guy is an inspiration.
