DFAM | Play your Synth from Ableton Push using CV Tools

Learn how to use the CV Instrument device to control your Eurorack format synthesizer from Ableton using analog Pitch and Gate control voltages.

CV Tools is such a great instrument pack in Live. Just be sure you have a DC coupled audio interface. Or you can use CV Tools with an Expert Sleepers ES-3 (8 outputs from PC world to CV world). I have built a template with all 8 outputs and it works perfect for integrating Live to your CV instruments. ES also makes other versions with even more CV I/O to/from PC. Be sure though that your audio interface has a ADAT fiber optic ("light pipe") port.

Can you please clarify something because I am a tad confused. Are you saying a MIDI controller like Push has the ability to play sounds from an analog synth by pressing on the pads on Push and they trigger the sound the same way as the actual keyboard on a Moog Sub37 would by using MIDI commands instead of the keys on the synth ? Probably the dumbest question you ever heard but just trying to understand signal flow. I own a Sub 37, Push 2 and a bunch of other gear including 3 MoogerFooger pedals still unboxed from Sweetawater (102, 103. 108m) a 104M delay and a CP 251. I got badly injured in an accident 5 years ago and stopped playing guitar and recording and trying to get back into music or sell my gear. So watching videos for inspiration and the question about controlling Moog with MIDI confuses me. I am a guitarist have two guitars with built in Fishman Triple play pickups and vaguely remember years ago using my MIDI pickup to play my Moog Sub 37 as well as my internal VSTs in ableton.. I have a traumatic brain injury so my brain can get a tad confused at times. Thanks for anyone who takes time to respond.🙏

Hi, one question if I will set it like you just show, the OSC freq on Dfam will be disabled? I can not check because I don't have it, but it is very important information which I need to have to be sure I what to buy it again ;) IM also wondering does Dfam keeps all it's power when is set like this, except sequencer obviously.

I'm trying this with Komplete audio 6 and ableton as well. But it doesn't work :( Nothing happens when the MIDI plays. I'm using a standard stereo jack plug.. is that the reason? should it be mono?

I've followed the instruction on the video....there isn't the same result. What am I missing?
are there settings in the UAD Apollo Twin (mkii duo) that should be noted?

I'll save y'all some time. If you have a Scarlett Audio interface (like me) you cannot use CV to control your DFAM from the interfaces output. Scarlett Audio Interfaces are not DC coupled and therefore cannot send CV.
