Baseck, a respected LA-based electronic musician, stopped by to chat with us before his performance at Moogfest 2019. He took the Moog DFAM (Drummer From Another Mother) Percussion Synthesizer for a spin and showcased the techniques he uses to create captivating drum sounds, and the ways he manipulates grooves throughout a performance.

One of the best demos of the DFAM - sometimes it's hard to get the right sweet spot but this demo shows you can do it pretty quickly when you know what you are doing. Will have to try harder. 😊

I've reviewed a bunch of synths and drum stuff. there's lots of good names out there, but Moog definitely has me sold. Just love all the extra patching capabilities.

I noticed I have to let my DFAMs warm up for about 15 minutes to get everything sounding like it should. If I turn it on then start patching right away, it doesn't respond quite like it should. Both of my DFAMs definitely have their own personality!

I love how you only need one trick (patch cable) to get a basic bass drum+snare. That is a well thought out design IMHO.
