A good bang-for-your-buck is a latex topper instead of foam! Drawer organizers are also plentiful at dollar tree if you're sans Prime!

If you get a foam topper, get a mattress cover to go with it! Keeps the topper clean so you can use it for years

Yes definitely a fan. I lived on the 3rd floor with no ac. And then the next year my room mates would turn the heat up to 85 lol

I'm not in a dorm but I sleep in a loft bed and have been using a shelf with a little "railing" on it as a makeshift bedside table for years. Works great for some things but the drawback is that I have to climb all the way into bed to access it, so I might have to try the caddy instead

I had to think for a second because I've never been in an "unconditioned" dorm room. But I went to school in the south. Air conditioning is a necessity down here.

No Air Conditioner? Fans are great, but you need a window unit air conditioner or a portable floor unit vented out the window (verify windows open).Think storage items, and use your wall space all the way up to the ceiling. Use spaces/items like under seating storage, underbed storage, and foldable or transforming furniture with a dual purpose. Lighting is key to make the room feel larger and more functional. Have a great pair of high quality noise canceling headphones.

Agreed with everything but mattress topper - those are EXPENSIVE. See what the bed is like first.

wait a minute? Most dorm rooms don't have air conditioning? How many of y'all didn't have air conditioning and what type of weather are y'all having because it's too hot here to not have air conditioning. My dorm had it. Anyone else care to weigh in?
