Hey guys, Kris here. Let me react to all the comments on the high gain sounds in this video.
First of all, we know the amp pretty good (Mesa Mark JP-2C John Petrucci Signature) and we were really happy with the sound in the room. I used pretty much John's settings so I wouldn't put the blame on the amp or on the settings. Nor on the guitars, they are really impressive with great pickups and everything.
We recorded both amps in the video with the same close mics what we always use. There was only one difference: we always use a condenser room mic in our video studio and mix that with the two close mics. We didn't have that room mic this time and that might be the reason for the rough, mid-rangy result. Close micing can be tricky sometimes and weird stuff might occur...
We hear you guys and respect your opinion. SO HERE'S A QUESTION FOR YOU:
What is your favorite reference amp for high gain sounds? Let me know what you'd love to hear in our videos. Please keep it in mind: we are looking for a reference amp, that most heavy players know and appreciate.

You guys don't know how to dial in an amp. That's an amazing amp and its dialed horribly.

Guitars are awesome but I think the amp is not dialed perfectly.. It sounds kinda thin and scooped even listening through jbl are definitely awesome but, there's definitely something going on with the amp....

Sorry for all the people complaining about your sound. I bet in a Mix with bass and drums they'd say the exact opposite... Brutal mid range and very direct attack. This is how to mix stuff that goes into a mix. I appreciate the effort.

Love when he struggles trying to get vibrato while playing a chord around 1:03 when the guitar has a double locking tremolo and he can just use the trem bar...
