The Psalmist was describing his despair. In seeing evil around him and experiencing hardships. He may have thought perhaps GOD was sending these blows of persecution or allowing it to correct him from sin. So, he doesn't want to offend GOD with questions and complaints, but is wondering why he has to continually endure this season of afflictions. He wonders if this is his fate until he dies... HE just wants some peace.

That is directed towards God, and I definitely don't want Him to leave me alone. I prefer the clear Hebrew שׁעה where it indicates to "look away" or "spare me" or "don't look at me with anger." The context is important.

He’s not telling God to leave him alone in the way you’re thinking. More of a way of asking to remove his hand from upon him in terms of correction. It’s important to note he asked this of God humbly.

I keep telling everyone I meet that the book of Psalms is my favorite book in the Bible. It says everything we have in our hearts in most perfect way. Name any kind of issue or emotion, it’s there.
