Upon graduating from mechanical engineering almost 20 years ago, the graduates received an iron ring, and I still wear mine every day. The ring ceremony is almost 100 years old, and involves a solemn pledge to practice in an ethical manner, and to always take responsibility for your actions no matter what happens.

This event is a reminder for everyone who designs and builds life-supporting structures and systems.

At one point, stockton had said the missions are "extremely safe"....at another point he said, "safety just is... pure waste". During an interview, he said his vessel was "the safest spot on the planet". Rush didn't only not listen to others, he didn't even listen to himself!

James Cameron has to realize the US Coast Guard and Canadian Coast Guard doesn’t have the capabilities to dive over 13, 000 feet to the sea floor. They had to wait on French ROV vehicles to be able to search the ocean floor. But the Coast Guard had to search on top of the water just in case the submersible floated to the surface.

Send robots with cameras down there no need to be right there.

“The good news is we’re searching in the area where the noises were detected.”
Phew, that’s a relief.

Because Stockton Rush didn't take safety seriously. He was warned that thing wasn't safe and he still disregard the warnings.

The Titanic Is A Gravesite That Should Be Respected or Expect Karma.
This Is Sad In So Many Ways

The Titanic is inspiring because of its massive size and its tragic end. I just dont see why someone would want to go down and look at it in the condition it's in. I get the initial explorers, but there is no point anymore. This won't be the end, though. Someone will find a way to profit off of it.

When I heard about “ the missing” sub—and it was supposed to dive to view the Titanic—I thought why search for for such a long time? Got to be not far from they destination—logic.

Did he say "Titanians"?
I think "Titanitards" is far more fitting

Yes, there were probably voids in the bonding since we saw no evidence of squeeze out. Yet, this is the most-probable single point of failure: In addition to being a material unsuited to compressive stress, A unidirectional tow strip is the only fiber the Spencer video shows wound around the mandrel; ZERO was the design provision of any non-axial lateral structure to prevent a simple splitting of the fabricated unidirectional tube. Thus, given water's injection into the unidirectional structure, the axial fibers were displaced laterally, wedging them and progressively splitting the tube in the axial. This tube design was so fundamentally ill conceived that it sickens all competent composite engineers and fabricators.

I know that one of the problems that OG suffered was not finding Titanic. Why hasn't *anyone* not installed a sonar beacon to Titanic's hull? It's no more intrusive than all those commemorative plaques they keep setting out.

"Soon" the Coast Guard was notified? Try 8 hours after communication was lost.

I'm flabbergasted that billionaires would risk their lives to see the titanic through a tiny port hole in the front when there's so many videos already about it. Not only that, they were sitting in this little compartment on the floor for 2.5hrs down and back... What in the world were they thinking?

What is the stupidity of seeing a rusted old remains of a broken sunken ship parts at the risk of death. I guess I answered it… stupidity
